Portmans is an Australian workwear-and-going-out label sizing from AU 6 to 18, with a published letter mapping where a 10 is Small, 12 is Medium and 14 is Large. The chart is in centimetres: a size 12 fits a 97cm bust, 77cm waist and 104cm hip. Sizes step evenly by 5cm up to the 16, then jump 8cm into the 18. Portmans also publishes a separate Curve chart running 16+ to 24+, which overlaps the main range at 16 and 18 with identical measurements before extending to a 130cm bust at 24+. International conversions are official: an AU 10 is a US 6, UK 10 and EU 38. When buying Portmans secondhand, check whether a 16 or 18 tag is main range or Curve; the published body measurements match at those sizes, but the Curve line continues up where the main range stops.
